Rummy-nose Tetras are a small, peaceful South American schooling fish (best kept in groups of 8–12+). It’s famous for its bright red “nose” and black-and-white banded tail; the intensity of the red coloration is often used by hobbyists as a quick indicator of stress or water-quality issues.

Care basics

- Water: Soft, slightly acidic is ideal; stable, clean water is important
- Temperature: Warm tropical range (often kept around 76–82°F / 24–28°C)
- Diet: Omnivore—quality flakes/micro-pellets plus frozen/live foods (brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms) for best color and condition
Compatibility
- Best with other calm species (small Tetras, Rasboras, Corydoras, small peaceful Gouramis).
